Abstract
In order to observe the nutritional effects of experimental diets supplemented with several seaweeds in rats, contents of hemoglobin hematocrite in blood and cholesterol in serum and liver have been determined albino rats, 182 heads, weighing 1399m, male were used as experimental animals and they were divided into five dietary groups; control diet, porphyra diet, monostroma diet, undaria diet and laminaria diet groups, and were fed for 14 weeks with corresponding diet.
The protein contents of each diet were controlled to simillar level, 10-69m to 10.7 gm per 100 gm of diet, and the metabolic energy values in 100 gm of each diet were 375 kcal.
The results obtained are summarized as follows,
1. The values of Hb and Ht in the blood of each dietary group were no remarkable difference compared with control group.
2. The contents of total cholesterol in liver of each dietary group were simillar to each other, but the contents of free cholesterol of porphyra diet, monostroma diet and undaria diet group were lower than that of control diet group.
3. The contents of total and free cholesterol in serum of the porphyra diet, monostroma diet and undaria diet were dcreased after feeding of each diet for 8 weeeks or 6 weeks.
